Hobbs woman gets DWI charge with son in car

HOBBS, N.M. (KRQE) – A Hobbs woman has been arrested for allegedly getting behind the wheel under the influence with her young son in the car.

According to the criminal complaint, a bystander saw 27-year-old Jenna Scheldorf get out of the car and fall to the ground.

When officers arrived, Scheldorf and her four-year-old son were sitting on the curb.

Police say she had a hard time balancing and showed signs of intoxication.

She told them she had taken some medication that made her drowsy, but when the officer asked her to take a sobriety test, Scheldorf became hysterical and the officer smelled liquor on her breath.

She was arrested and charged with child abuse and aggravated DWI.
