ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Albuquerque Police Department has released lapel cam video of officers tasing a suspect who had just attacked one of their own.

Police say Anthony Abeyta lashed out at two officers responding to a domestic violence call at a home near Tramway and Interstate 40.

Sergeant Ferris Simmons was punched in the face several times before officers could subdue Abeyta.

Investigators say Abeyta’s son called police to tell them his father had killed his mother.

APD later found that woman inside the home, her entire face fractured and her bottom jaw broken in half.

Abeyta is facing nearly thirty criminal charges including attempted murder.
