Extreme drought spreads throughout NM

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The lack of moisture in the past few months is starting to affect New Mexico’s drought situation .

Just a few months ago, the red area representing extreme drought was much smaller on the drought map.

It’s now growing in the southeastern part of the state.

There are also more areas moving into moderate and severe drought which are the beige and orange areas.
