ACLU sues former probation officer

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A civil rights group is suing a former probation officer convicted of sexually assaulting one of his parolees.

Gordon Chavez was sentenced last week to 18 months in federal prison.

He pleaded guilty in September to groping the breasts of a parolee during mandatory visits to his Albuquerque office.

Now the ACLU is suing Chavez and the state corrections department for violating the woman’s civil rights. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
