TV series looks to hire locals

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – New Mexico will once again be the backdrop of a new TV series, and hundreds of locals will be hired.

The drama called “Manhattan” is about the U.S. government’s effort to develop the world’s first atomic bomb.

It will follow a group of scientists and their families as they attempt to navigate a world of secrets and lies.

About 200 local crew members and thousands of resident actors and background talent will be hired over the course of 13 episodes.

Officials say the choice of the producers to work in New Mexico demonstrates that the state remains competitive in attracting movies and TV projects.

“Manhattan” will begin filming at locations across New Mexico later this month.

It will air on the WGN America network. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
