New York man pleads guilty to drug trafficking

NM  to study affects of marijuana legalization


ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – a New York man has pleaded guilty to a marijuana trafficking charge in New Mexico that could put him in prison for the rest of his life.

Gary Harris, 50, was trying to get more than 1,100 pounds of marijuana hidden in a semi truck from Tucson, Arizona to New York in August 2013.

The driver was stopped in Hidalgo County where the stash was discovered and officers traced the pot back to Harris.

Harris and the truck driver both face up to 40 years in federal prison at sentencing.
