Stolen pedicab found, suspect arrested

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A popular Old Town pedicab that was stolen over the weekend was found Monday night in the parking lot of a CVS on Menaul and Eubank.

APD arrested Brock Preece, 28, in connection with the theft. He’s been charged with possession of stolen property.

Mike Whitney is the owner of the pedicab. He’s been giving rides to tourists in Old Town for the last 16 years.

When he went to head to work Monday, he got quite a shock.

“This morning, I went outside to come to work, and my pedicab wasn’t in my car port. Someone stole it overnight last night,” he said.

Whitney was devastated; the pedicab is his livelihood.

After KRQE News 13 aired his story at 5:30 p.m. Monday, a viewer called who spotted it. Shortly after, the pedicab was found.

Whitney believes he has the only four-wheel pedicab in the state. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
