Governor signs more bills into law

SANTA FE (KRQE) – Gov. Susana Martinez signed a few more bills into law Monday, one aimed at bringing more business to the state.

It eliminates sales tax on the purchase of aircraft over 10,000 pounds.

Because Texas and other nearby states don’t charge sales tax, many people do their business there.

The hope is that the change in law could bring 125 jobs to Roswell alone, an area that has several aircraft businesses already.

And the governor also signed a bill Monday to help save the lives of newborns.

The bill requires hospitals to perform a CCHD test or critical congenital heart disease test.

It’s the most effective way to detect serious health problems in otherwise well appearing newborns. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
