Ex-probation officer going to prison for groping

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A former probation officer is going to federal prison for groping a woman he supervised.

Gordon Chavez was sentenced Monday to 18 months behind bars, plus three years probation.

Chavez took a deal last September, pleading guilty to fondling the breasts of a parolee during mandatory visits to his Albuquerque office.

The woman recorded two visits where Chavez also asked her to bring nude pictures of herself, and another where he apologized for touching her.

As part of his plea deal, Chavez has agreed to give up his law enforcement certification and must register as a sex offender.
