AFD investigates Chaparral Elementary fire

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Fire officials are trying to find out what sparked a fire at Chaparral Elementary school Saturday morning.

According to AFD, crews were dispatched to the school located at 6325 Milne Road at 10:00 a.m. Saturday. When crews arrived on scene heavy smoke and flames were coming from a building that is under construction at the school.

AFD said crews were able to get the fire under control and prevent damage to the existing portion of the school. A sprinkler system also aided firefighters in keeping the fire from spreading.

No injuries were reported.
