ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Police are investigating the death of a man who climbed to the top of an electrical pole, was electrocuted and died Thursday.
According to APD, a resident in the area of 94th and Sunset Gardens called police to report a man trespassing in a backyard. The caller believed the man had a gun.
Upon arrival, officers found the man at the top of an electrical pole and said he seemed very upset. Two crisis intervention certified officers tried to talk the man into coming down, but he ended up grabbing onto a live electrical wire and was electrocuted.
After he fell, paramedics transported the man to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to APD.
Police officers will conduct interviews with neighbors in the area and continue investigating the incident.
