BCSO receives life saving equipment

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office is receiving some much needed life saving equipment today, 30 active shooter armor kits.

The gear is designed to protect first responders and it was all made possible through a donation from Firehouse Subs.

The restaurant created a public safety foundation that collects donations to give equipment and education opportunities to first responders.

“Thanks to the generous contributions of our customers which they either round up at the register or they donate into our donation bucket, said Shirley Berg of Firehouse Subs.

Firehouse Subs sells recycled pickle buckets for $2 so they can collect spare change for the foundation.

The foundation collects donations nationwide and has given $8.3 million in 39 states. Nearly $24,000 has been collected in New Mexico alone.
