NMSP investigate officer involved shooting

SANTA ROSA, N.M. (KRQE) – New Mexico State Police are investigating an officer involved shooting in Santa Rosa.

Police say around 4:30 this morning a Santa Rosa police officer was chasing 20-year-old Kenny Silvers, of Oklahoma after someone called about a suspicious vehicle near the railroad yard.

During the pursuit, police say shots were fired and Silvers was hit.

He was airlifted to UNM Hospital in Albuquerque.

The officer was not injured in the incident.

The investigation is still ongoing.
