La Cueva students express themselves with tape

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Art students at La Cueva High School have filled the halls of the school with electrical tape.

The project was inspired by an Austrian street artist named Buff Dis who creates art using masking tape.

Art teacher Carrie McCoy uses many different art mediums and projects for students to use to express themselves and came up with this project.

The goal of the project was to help bring the school’s interior walls to life.

“It was fun and it was a lot more challenging than I thought it was going to be but overall the design came out how my friends and I wanted it to look like so it was really fun overall just to make it,” La Cueva High School Senior Jack Mied said.

In the past, students have created art using everything from junk mail and paper bags to old cassette tapes. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
