Governor seeks money for water projects

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Governor Susana Martinez is not wavering on her push to spend more money on water projects in the state.

Tuesday, the governor spoke about the state’s needs at the National Groundwater Association Conference.

The long term drought has put pressure on water supplies throughout the state.

Many small communities, like Magdalena, have nearly run out and have had to spend millions to dig new wells are buy new equipment.

Governor Martinez asked the legislature for more than a $1 million to help small communities with their infrastructure.

The new budget does include a lot of money, just not as much as the governor wanted. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
