SANTA FE (KRQE) – We have a disturbing update on a badly wounded dog we told you about Monday.
The Santa Fe County Animal Shelter says the dog not only had its paw nearly severed off, but she was also shot four times.
A group of teenagers found her while they were out on their four-wheelers on the La Tierra hiking trails.
They picked her up and got her some help.
Shelter officials say the dog, now named Lily, will have her leg amputated.
His case comes after a rash of dog killings in Santa Fe County.
Six dogs have been found dead. Four of them were shot, two others were found tied to trees.
Sheriff’s investigators don’t know if all the cases are connected.
