SANTA FE (KRQE) – A group of high school students in Santa Fe helped save a dog’s life.
The Santa Fe Animal Shelter says the teens were riding their four-wheelers on the La Tierra hiking rails when they came across this dog with her paw almost completely severed.
The kids scooped her up and got her some help.
The shelter vet isn’t sure what caused the wound, but something wrapped around her paw until it sliced through the skin and bone.
They believe she may have been walking around like that for weeks.
The dog, now named Lily, will have her leg amputated, but she is expected to make a full recovery.
