ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – There’s some uncertainty with New Mexico teacher salaries in the state budget.
Governor Susana Martinez could veto a budget provision intended to make sure school districts implement higher salaries.
Martinez indicated she’ll probably sign the budget but may use her line-item veto powers.
In 2013 she vetoed similar budget language.
New Mexico lawmakers approved $70 million for public school workers which is enough to boost the average pay three percent, which is equivalent to $2,
The Governor has until March 12th to sign the bill.
