Data could be used for film apps

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – If a scene in a movie or TV show may look like it was shot in Albuquerque, there may soon be apps that let fans know if it was.

The city has created an open data initiative to that has information on where and when movies were shot in New Mexico since 2008.

The city is challenging residents to take advantage of the data and create apps or software programs.

“The city has a lot of great data that it’s trying to make available to developers and the community, and movie locations is one of those data sets, so we want to see what the community can do with them,” said Mark Leech, app services group manager.

There are several other data sets, including salary information and bike paths.
