Bomb squad finds grenade, drugs in home

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – APD’s bomb squad responded to a northeast Albuquerque home over the weekend after a grenade was found during a drug investigation.

It happened Saturday as officers served a search warrant at home on Sierra Grande near Juan Tabo and Lomas.

APD says that’s where they found a live gas grenade inside, along with heroin, ecstasy, marijuana, three handguns and $6,000 in cash.

Police arrested 24-year-old Mario Zelaya of Nicaragua and 21-year-old Brandi Soza.

APD says Soza recently bonded out of jail for a trafficking case in Arizona and has prior drug arrests in the Albuquerque area. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
