John’s Friday Afternoon Forecast

Today will feature much less wind. After a cold start this morning, afternoon highs will warmer than yesterday. Albuquerque will warm to the upper 50s today, then to the mid 60s for the weekend. While there will be less wind across the state today, it will be windy again in east central New Mexico on Saturday. A Fire Weather Watch has been posted for these locations on Saturday. Winds will come down some Sunday, but still expect some breezy conditions in these areas.

The tranquil weather will continue into next week, with lots of sunshine and above average temperatures. It’s possible that a storm could clip the northern part of the state late next week. It’s nothing to get too excited about at this point, but at least it’s a better shot a Northern Mountain snow than we’ve seen lately. A much better looking storm could still impact the state in early March, but that scenario is still dubious at best. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
