Couple apologizes for Air Force sham

CLOVIS (KRQE) – A Clovis couple has apologized through a court-ordered newspaper ad for defrauding the U.S. Air Force.

In the ad in the Clovis News Journal, Donald and Sherri Brewer said they created a sham sub-contracting firm in San Antonio and bilked the Air Force out of millions, then spent that money on airplanes, cars, houses and businesses for themselves.

In the ad, they said they regretted their actions and the trouble it caused everyone.

The judge had ordered them to write the letter last year. Their first draft was rejected. The judge says it was unacceptable and ordered him to write it again.

The couple was sentenced to lifetime probation and must pay restitution. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
