ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – One of the suspects connected to a string of violent armed robberies, carjackings and home invasions in Albuquerque has pleaded guilty.
Raul Ortega, 21, is one of the men who broke into a house two years ago, hog-tied the homeowner and left him to drown in a bathtub, then took off with the man’s credit cards and ATM pin number.
The victim ended up surviving and helped police identify Ortega.
Under the plea agreement, he faces up to 20 years in prison.
His suspected co-conspirator, Joel Meeks, has pleaded not guilty in the case. His trial is scheduled for March 3.
