Senate rejects casinos plan

SANTA FE (KRQE) – The Senate did not like the Navajo Nations plans to open up more casinos.

The Senate overwhelmingly voted against the agreement which the House approved the day before.

Navajo President Ben Shelly says they will consider possible legal action against the state.

The Navajos operate two Las Vegas-style casinos in New Mexico under a compact expiring in 2015 and they wanted to open three more.
