Injured vet gets brand new home

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – An Albuquerque veteran has a new mortgage-free house.

On Wednesday, Wells Fargo and Military Warriors Support Foundation presented Sgt. Stephen Rose, his wife and three kids with the keys to their new home located in far southwest Albuquerque.

Rose’s primary job in the Army was to locate bombs with the help of a dog. He was wounded in April 2010.

He says getting this house is like winning the lottery.

“It’s a dream come true. It’s unbelievable. Just to imagine that someone would give you a home just for a volunteer service. It’s amazing. It’s life-changing,” said Rose.

Rose says it will take him a few weeks before everything sinks in. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
