Food bank steps up to help UNM students

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The Roadrunner Food Bank is stepping in to help hungry UNM students.

The non-profit says it recently learned of a great need in the college community.

On Thursday, they are setting up a mobile food pantry to help about 100 families they’ve identified as needing help. Roadrunner Food Bank plans to hand out about 5,000 pounds of food.

UNM worked along with Roadrunner Food Bank to identify the families in need. There could be more programs like this in the future if there is a continuing need. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
