CYFD bill passes both chambers

SANTA FE (KRQE) – A bill designed to improve the Children, Youth and Families Department has passed both chambers of the legislature.

The bill, sponsored by Democratic Sen. Michael Padilla of Bernalillo, would require CYFD to produce a report about how it places and removes kids from homes and much more.

Padilla says the legislation reform will address the need for accountability and transparency at CYFD, which has come under fire recently for its handling of cases.
