Man suing APD pleads not guilty to latest charge

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The man who is suing two former APD officers for what he calls excessive force has pleaded not guilty in connection with his latest arrest.

Nicholas Blume, 35, was arrested last week for being a felon in possession of a firearm after a violent fight with his girlfriend.

On Tuesday, a judge ordered him to remain in custody pending trial.

Blume is suing the two former APD officers for the beating he took during a 2011 arrest that was caught on camera.

The two officers were fired but are appealing their terminations.

If convicted on the felon in possession of a firearm charge, Blume faces up to 10 years in federal prison.
