John’s Tuesday Afternoon Forecast

The quiet weather continues with breezy conditions developing today. Winds pick up even more for Wednesday. A Fire Weather Watch is in effect for most of New Mexico for Wednesday, excluding the Northern Mountains. Red Flag Warnings are in effect for areas just east of the Sacramento Mountains extending down to the Guadalupe Mountains. Winds on Wednesday will gust anywhere from 35 to 50 mph.

The winds come courtesy of a storm passing to the north. Spot showers will be possible over the Northern Mountains Wednesday, but the best chance at snow will be over the San Juans of southern Colorado.

In the wake of the storm, a cold front sweeps through the state Wednesday night making Thursday much cooler. Temperatures will drop as much as 15° – 25° across the state. Temps quickly rebound on Friday into the weekend. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
