Three injured in Rio Rancho shooting

RIO RANCHO, NM (KRQE) – Police are investigating a shooting that put three people in the hospital and left a number of streets blocked.

Neighbors say they started hearing sirens at 2 p.m. Saturday.  Rio Rancho police say three people are in the hospital, two of them with gunshot wounds, and a third person who was beaten up.  One person was flown out to a hospital, but the conditions of everyone involved are unknown at this point.

Police aren’t saying how this all started, only that they believe the three people in the hospital are the only ones involved.

“That’s what we’re trying to get figured out. We do have everybody meeting and being seen by medical personnel so once we have their statuses, then we can start conducting interviews to kind of figure out what transpired today,” said Rio Rancho Police Officer Janet Garcia.

Police say all three people involved are accounted for, so they’re not looking for anyone else at this point.

Neighbors say this is a very quiet area and they’re waiting on more information.

Police haven’t said whether anyone involved is related, or which ones are suspects or victims. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
