ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A lot of the talk was about the match-up between the MW leading scorer Deonte Burton (20.40ppg) for Nevada versus Cameron Bairstow (20.17ppg) who trailed Burton by .23 points a game heading into the game. Burton was shut down with just 12 points, meanwhile the senior Bairstow exploded for 24 points. At one point, Bairstow scored 10 of the Lobos first 14 points as New Mexico cruised to a 90-72 win over Nevada. Although Bairstow had a big game, Alex Kirk stole the spotlight with a game high 29 points. The duo down low of Bairstow (24 pts., 11 rebs.) & Kirk (29 pts., 5 rebs., 5 asts.) combined for 53 points as the Lobos shot 55 percent from the field in the win.
