(KRQE) – Relief will soon be on the way for some New Mexico ranchers.
New Mexico Senators Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich say ranchers will soon be able to sign up for drought disaster aid. The new Federal Farm Law was signed last week. Ranchers can start signing up for the financial assistance in a couple of months.
The senators say New Mexico’s herds have been reduced by 50 percent because of the state’s drought. The law is aimed at helping ranchers who had grazing and livestock losses due to drought.
