Missile Range to lose personnel this summer

ALAMOGORDO, N.M. (KRQE) – The White Sands Missile Range is getting ready to lose some of its personnel this summer.

The Army announced last year that it will deactivate the 600-soldier 2nd Engineer Battalion as part of a worldwide restructuring.

Preparations to deactivate the battalion are now underway.

The missile range’s commander says there are discussions about finding another unit to replace the engineering battalion. The rest of the unit is expected to transfer by 2015.
