Body found on NMSU campus possibly ID’d

LAS CRUCES (KRQE) – It appears a partially burned body found last month on the NMSU campus is that of a homeless man.

OMI has tentatively identified him as 55-year-old Richard Livasy.

His body was found Jan. 27 burning in a drainage culvert underneath I-25 on the edge of campus.

Investigators are still trying to determine a cause of death.

Police say Livasy was originally from Michigan but has been in the Las Cruces area since the 1990s. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
