John’s Thursday Afternoon Forecast

Today will feature more sunshine and even warmer temps. However, winds will kick up, especially across the east. The strongest winds will be found in the East Mountains where gusts could reach around 40 mph this afternoon. Breezy to occasionally windy conditions will set up for other areas just east of the central mountain chain. Crosswinds will be a bit of an issue along I-25 between Las Vegas and Raton.

Temperatures will continue to climb into the weekend. By Saturday and Sunday, many areas will be challenging new record highs. Albuquerque is still set to reach the low 70s, while some areas in the southeast will climb well into the 80s.

The next storm still won’t enter the picture until at least this time next week, so for now get used to the unseasonably warm and springlike weather. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
