Police arrest suspect in fatal stabbing

HOBBS, N.M. (KRQE) – One of the suspects in a double stabbing in Hobbs that left one person dead has been arrested.

Armando Espinoza, 22, was taken into custody Tuesday.

He’s charged with second-degree murder in the death of 17-year-old Oscar Mediano.

Police say Mediano was at a party last weekend and apparently took a beer bong from inside the house. That’s when he was confronted by Espinoza and another suspect, Michael Rodriguez, who stabbed him.

The man who threw the party says he does not know Espinoza or Rodriguez, and neither did the victim.

Rodriguez is still on the run.
