2 plead guilty to stabbing

CHIMAYO, N.M. (KRQE) – Two women have pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the brutal beating and stabbing death of a Chimayo man in 2012.

Angel Baldonado, 24, and Sheanee Martinez, 20, agreed to testifying against the niece of the victim in exchange for a maximum sentence of 21 years in prison.

Rhiannon Montoya, 34, is accused of getting the other women to help her rob her uncle, 64-year-old Rudy Montoya, but they ended up beating him up with a baseball bat and setting the place on fire to destroy the evidence.

Montoya and Martinez were arrested during a traffic stop the next day. Baldonado was found when she showed up at the hospital with burns.

Montoya is scheduled to go on trial next month.
