ALBUQUERQUE  (KRQE) – Governor Susana Martinez says she’s standing behind Children Youth and Families Secretary Yolanda Deines and will not fire her, despite a number of community groups asking for that to happen. The requests come in response to the death of Omaree Varela, who’s mother is accused of kicking him to death. The groups also want the two APD officers fired who responded to a 911 call from Omaree’s home months before he died.

Gasoline prices have dipped two cents lower than they were last week, and 30 cents lower than they were at this time last year.

Shirley Temple Black has died at the age of 85. The talented singer, danger and actress is credited with saving 20th Century Fox and putting a smile on peoples’ faces during the Great Depression. She retired from acting at age 21 and went into politics.
