Richard Branson defends Spaceport flights

SIERRA COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – Billionaire Richard Branson says flights out of the New Mexico Spaceport will take place later this year.

His comments come after a new book called “Branson Behind the Mask” claims that space tourism is just a pipe dream.

Author Tom Bower writes that the rocket motor of Virgin Galactic’s spaceship may never be powerful enough for space travel and that the company has yet to bet granted an FAA license.

Branson says there are some people who want things to fail and the best way to deal with people like that is to prove them wrong.

He says he’ll do just that in the next few months when he plans to take his family on the first space flight.
