More bad scores released for NM schools

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A new report shows New Mexico is one of the worst places to move to for schools.

Education Week says the state had the lowest high school graduation rates in the U.S. at less than 60 percent.

The report also shows that last year, middle school kids were among the least proficient in math and reading based on national test scores.

It also says less than half of young adults were enrolled in postsecondary institutions or had a degree as of 2012.

Other states ranked as the worst were Alabama, West Virginia and Mississippi.

States ranked the best to move to for education include Maryland, New Hampshire and Vermont. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
