Two steal ambulance, lead police on chase

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) -A bizarre incident early Saturday morning lead police on a long ambulance chance.

Albuquerque Police say around 3:00 a.m. a man and a woman broke into and stole an ambulance parked at the Dr Mlk Jr Ave Lovelace Medical Center while an employee slept in the back of the truck.

As they drove down Central Ave the sleeping man in back hopped out of the truck.

The pair made their way to I40 where they led police on a chase east bound all the way to Edgewood where police used spike belts to slow them down.

The two were taken into custody when the truck came to a stop on I40 near the tramway exit.
