Ambulance Hijacked

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – An Albuquerque ambulance worker got quite a ride this morning after finding himself the victim of a carjacking

Albuquerque Police says the worker was sleeping in the back of the ambulance when a man and woman hopped inside and drove off around three this morning.  After the worker woke up he realized what happened… And was able to jump out when the ambulance slowed near an intersection.

“I kind of feel bad for the guy that was sleeping in the back, you know he just woke up and he’s being driven down the road almost kidnapped. And fortunately he was able to jump out and get out of that vehicle” said A.P.D. officer Simon Drobik.

Police followed the stolen ambulance as it sped up and down Interstate 40 even putting out spike strips to stop it.  The chase finally stopped on I-40 near Tramway blvd. and officers arrested the two suspects. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
