Famous Farmington statue gets a fix

FARMINGTON, N.M. (KRQE) – He’s been the big man around Farmington since the 1960s.

But now, Sunny the Big Man, a well-known landmark has really blown his top.

The 22-foot-tall fiberglass figure is not at his normal hangout outside Sun Glass on Main Street. He’s getting a makeover. The Farmington Daily Ttimes shared pictures of him.

Before the holidays, the staff dressed him up in a Santa suit and left him lying down on the roof for a couple days.

Moisture got into his suit and when they stood him upright, his head cracked.

He’s now getting fixed and is expected to be standing again in about a month.
