ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – While many kids are inside playing video games or hanging out at the mall, one Albuquerque girl was out making a difference.
Haley Gibson, 11, helped lead a community-wide effort to get rid of litter and vandalism in her neighborhood park, Grecian Park, located near Montano and Guadalupe Trail
Her efforts caught the attention of Mayor Berry, who named her the volunteer of the week.
“Haley your generous and caring nature has improved the experience of residents and visitors to our local parks,” he told her. “By spearheading this project from start to finish, you demonstrated your commitment and dedication to your neighborhood and your community, and that’s what we want everybody in our city to do.”
Haley made fliers and passed them out in her neighborhood and at school to get others involved in the clean up.
