Detective questioned in murder trial

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – There was more talk Wednesday about the victims’ daughter in the Ronald Santiago murder trial.

Santiago is on trial for the 2005 shooting death of his clients Greg and Bernadette Ohlemacher.

Testimony once again turned to the couple’s daughter, Renee, who was the only other person in the home and the only one not hurt.

One of the investigators, Detective Carl Ross, had to answer tough questions from Santiago’s attorneys.

They cited a 2007 interview where Ross said that he thought Reneee was involved in the murders.

But when questioned Wednesday, he insinuated that he no longer believed Renee was involved.

Police say she was cleared as a suspect. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
