Climate center coming to NM

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Local farmers are about to get some help dealing with weather and climate change.

The Department of Agriculture is building research centers around the country called regional climate hubs.

One of them will be in New Mexico.

The centers will assess local climate risks such as drought and wildfire and develop plans for dealing with them.

Centers will also be located in Iowa, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Colorado and Oklahoma. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
