ABQ officer to be Rio Rancho police chief

RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) – A long-time Albuquerque police officer has been chosen to become Rio Rancho’s police chief.

Rio Rancho officials say Mike Geier has been offered the job with an annual salary of $117,000.

The City Council will have to officially approve the hire at a meeting on Feb. 12.

Geier was picked out of 70 applicants.

He will replace Robert Boone who was chief for nearly nine years.
