$60M bond goes to Carlsbad schools

CARLSBAD, N.M. (KRQE) – A New Mexico school district with the most worn out schools is getting some badly needed money.

Carlsbad has some of the oldest schools in the state, some as old as 90 years old. But that’s about to change.

On Tuesday, Carlsbad residents approved a bond which will raise $60 million to build four new schools.

More than 1,000 people voted in favor of the bond while about 300 voted against it.
