ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Those who live on the Westside are used to wind, blowing dirt and tumbleweeds.
But tumbleweeds have been piling up in the Ventana Ranch neighborhood on the West Mesa.
People say it’s been worse than usual and the invasion is starting earlier in the year than usual because of the long winter dry spell and spring-like winds.
“I’ve never seen tumbleweeds this bad. They got really, really big,” said Kaylee Nix. “They’ve been blowing all over the roads. It’s kind of hard to avoid, especially in a little car.”
It’s been a never-ending battle against the prickly stuff. People say they clear out their yards and then have to do it all over again the next day.
