Board to vote on ski area’s future

LOS ALAMOS (KRQE) – Several years of drought could mean the Pajarito Mountain Ski Area will be transferred to Los Alamos County.

The Los Alamos Ski Club says the lack of snow in recent years has kept the mountain closed most of the season and that’s had a significant financial impact on the ski area.

Unfortunately, according to Ski New Mexico, the area didn’t get any snow in Monday’s storm.

The board will vote Tuesday night whether or not Pajarito should be transferred to Los Alamos County.

A vote in support of the plan will pave the way for the county to evaluate Pajarito’s assets, potential liabilities and its impact on the county.
